Alstee (Chris Alston) is the questionable king of the Old School. Witness what unfolds as an authentic eighties B-Boy grabs his skateboard and sets out to conquer the world with half the skills to pay the bills. A "serious" work in its own right, Skater Valid affectionately appropriates the ubiquitous cut-up/no-attention-span stylings of MTV, while offering a glimpse into the day-to-day goings on of a retro-futuristic hero planted firmly in our time. It is, as they say, all about The Love.
Skater Valid has been screened in Australia and South Korea as part of the proceedings for the Gwangju Biennale and Seoul Fringe Festival. |
