During the 2002 FIFA World Cup in Korea and Japan, Anja, a young woman living in Europe, who has been traumatized by her boyfriend's failed wedding proposal duirng a football match, decides to embark on a journey to find the one single man who has not caught the football "fever" – not an easy task during the World Cup.
As the German team unexpectedly marches through the tournament all the way to the Final game (some would say: "as German football teams always tend to do"), our heroin meets one man after another who disappoints her by turning out to be another "closet"-football fan.
With the excitement of the tournamant rising along with the expectations for the remaining teams, Anja grows increasingly fond of the Beautiful Game.
This film is a detailed and humorous take at all aspects of why people love the game of football and how for some, it is a matter of chance, for others simply superstition, for still others, it is merely as important as religion or love.
