Rest Area examines psychogeographical relationships to generic and anonymous settings of urban environments. Multiple urban situations involving the use of a tent as an intimate experiential device, a time-capsule and anchor-point allow for on-site field recordings, peripheral gazes and prolonged stays. The video takes a deeper look at how the outskirts of the city are mutating into ambiguous zones where public parks, waste sites, private industrial properties and generic surfaces co-exist in tension. It questions how our bodies inhabit and relate to these evergrowing environments that are often subjected to territorial speculation and rising ecological issues. |
