Sinopsis: |
After opening with 14 seconds of Thomas Edisons 1900 film A Dull Razor, a list of ingredients to make fake blood appears onscreen. Next
a man is shown in black-and-white extreme closeup lathering his face to shave. He methodically prepares for his shave. The film takes an ominous turn when his safety razor presses hard against his face and draws blood. The rest of the film is an extreme case of knowing that what we watch is fake but also being disturbed by what our eyes tell us. Three loud beeps function as disturbing time-markers signaling the fast degeneration of the
man shaving. The deeper Orwellian insight is not the horror itself but how quickly we accept a lie if it is acknowledged upfront with a wink.
